Rest, Connection, and Clarity: Reflections from the Candor Mental Health Retreat
At the beginning of this month, I had the honor of attending the Candor Mental Health Retreat in the Poconos. It was more than time away — it was a sacred pause. Surrounded by nature and in the company of powerful, like-minded women, I was reminded of the deep healing that comes from slowing down, gathering in circle, and remembering that we do not have to carry everything alone.
The power of stepping away
In our busy lives, rest is often treated as a luxury. But rest is not optional — it is essential for clarity, healing, and creativity. Taking time away from my usual routines gave me space to hear myself more clearly. The mountains, the trees, and the quiet of the Poconos all reminded me that slowing down is part of the work.
Sisterhood and shared stories
One of the most powerful parts of the retreat was sitting in circle with other women. In those spaces of honesty and vulnerability, I was reminded that healing happens in relationship. Sisterhood circles are sacred because they allow us to witness and be witnessed, to release shame, and to carry each other’s stories with compassion.
There is something transformative about being reminded you are not alone. Each woman carried her own story, her own struggles, and her own wisdom — and together, we created a space that felt both grounding and expansive.
Clarity for what comes next
This retreat also helped me find clarity about my own offerings. As I rested and reflected, I felt called back to the heart of PathBreak: supporting BIWOC cycle-breakers, professionals, and healers in rewriting the stories they have inherited so they can rise with worthiness, confidence, and liberation.
Join Me for Rewriting the Story
Out of this renewed clarity, I am thrilled to invite you to my upcoming event: Rewriting the Story.
This gathering is designed for BIWOC who are ready to examine the narratives they have inherited — the ones that keep them in silence, self-doubt, or overgiving — and to begin writing a new chapter rooted in empowerment, healing, and truth.
✨ In this event, we will:
• Explore the power of story and how it shapes identity and choices
• Identify the narratives that no longer serve you
• Begin crafting new stories that align with your values and your vision
• Connect in sisterhood with others who are walking this path of breaking cycles
📅 Tickets are still available, and I would love for you to be in the room.

Final reflection
The Candor retreat reminded me of something vital: we cannot heal in isolation. Rest, connection, and community are medicine. They restore us so we can return to our lives and our work with clarity and strength.
I hope you will join me at Rewriting the Story, where we will continue this work of resting, connecting, and rising together.
Because healing is not only about letting go of the past. It is also about daring to imagine the future — and writing it into being.
